Last Day Of School!

I realize I haven't blogged for a while, and today i was thinking about something blog-worthy. I finally came to a conclusion that I would blog about the last day of school, and the semi formal dance that night. This was last Wednesday, the 15th, and it was field day. My school has classes right up until two days before school ends, then the next day there are shortened classes to work around the awards ceremony for grades 6 - 8. I got five awards in that by the way. They were Language Arts and Spanish Academic Achievements, the exceptional effort award in art, the indoor soccer award for my league, and honor role.
Well, back to field day, we did the regular boring field day stuff, and got pizza, snacks and soda for lunch and then had a huge scavenger hunt which was pretty fun. They gave you a list of things that you had to do, and you had an hour to do them. They were like list all the 50 states in alphabetical order, then give all their nicknames, and get a par 4 on the first hole on the golf course, and some origami challenge. (My team folded up pieces of paper, and then used our imaginations to figure out what they could possibly be) They came out to be a beetle, swan and a penguin. When the hour was up, we went swimming in groups, and that was the end.
We rushed home in order to have time for Sara to do our makeup before the dance, and before Sara went home at 5:30. After she did most of our hair and makeup, setting us free to do the rest, she left, and we were ready to go. Zsas had two friends over, and one of them had very bad luck with her dress that day. One of the little teeth on her dress broke off in the bag i guess, and so she couldn't zip her dress up. Mom was trying to sew it up, but then decided that it would probably come loose at the dance, so she and her mom went back to her house to get a different dress. We ended up going in separate cars, already a little fashionably late, but thats OK. The dance was fun, but of course, right through game 7 of the Stanley cup finals, so they projected that up on the wall. The room went absolutely NUTS when the Bruins scored, and many were very happy going home with a score of 4 - 0 bruins. There were teary goodbyes and fireworks after, which concluded the night. Except for a lot of people that went home and immediately turned on the TV to watch the Bruins win the Stanley cup!!!!!!!!!!! (One of those people including me.) :) It was pretty late by that time, so I almost fell asleep during the game, but was awake long enough for each member of the Bruins team skating around holding the cup above their heads. Go Bruins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First Powder Day!!!!!!!!! (and adventures)

On Monday, we came up to sugar to spend the week. We had been driving for a while in the big snow storm, and by the time we got up, we had gotten about two feet of snow. We only had one worry. The driveway might not have been plowed. Sure enough, it wasn't. It was about 11:45 at night, and I had slept most of the way. There was a big pile of snow that the plow truck from the street had pushed up in to a big pile in front of the two feet of snow. There was no way we were ramming through it, that would be impossible. We decided to spend the night at a nearby inn, but there was no one there to get us a room, (because by now, it around 12:15am) so we called the plow guy, and he came and plowed the driveway for us. He had forgotten to. We got to the top of the driveway, and have to gear up, and shovel the front of the garage. We got in and slept for what was left of the night.

We got up and went skiing yesterday! It was the first powder day of the year, because the mountain had gotten 3 feet of snow. I got stuck on one if the trails that was not groomed, and couldn't lift my ski out of the snow, so I spent 5 minutes digging out my ski with my hands. It was very cold that day, but still fun.

We had another adventure yesterday night, where the power went out, and the garage door opener I guess is not hooked up to the generator. We had to go down to the realty office to see if they still had a house key to our house. Of course, they didn't. But, they did help us find the number to the electric company, which took much longer than it should have. We finally called them, and they said they thought it was back on. We crossed our fingers, and hoped they were right. They were right, so we went inside and had dinner.

I hope everyone had better luck than we did, merry Christmas and happy new year!

Vanilla Bean Cupcake

Last weekend, we all went up to Dartmouth for the reunion. On Saturday, we went shopping, and got these really cute bathmats. After going up and down the street, we came to this nice little bookstore. It had a Bakery. I saw a vanilla bean cupcake. I went running to mom about it, and she told me that i could have it, as long as i gave her a bite. That cupcake has inspired me with a haiku. Here it is.

Amazing cupcake
Great vanilla bean goodness
oh, the great frosting

Briarwood

Last week, my grade and the one below me went n this school field trip.It is a week long, and it is all about marine biology. There are lots of activities, games and boat rides, (it was three hours away, on the cape) but there was plenty of learning involved too. There was this thing called the toby's island challenge, where you have to build a raft that is all tied together out of 2 kayaks, one tiny boat, two tiny inner tubes, 15 halve kayak paddles, and a lot of rope. Our headmaster Doug, was in his boat, while making huge waves. In the end, we were freezing from trying to swim to this island, and we were mad because most of us had lost our towels, or shoes. Our boat started sinking because of all the water that had built up in it, and so we jumped out, and started swimming. The worst part, (other than our whole raft sinking) was the fact that the teachers made us do it back too. We were freezing the whole way. We came in second which is pretty good, considering that none of the other rafts had sunk. Well, I guess the whole week was pretty fun after all.

Tooth Extraction

So, on Monday, I had to go get two teeth pulled. I was going to have to get two more teeth pulled sometime next week. It turns out that my teeth "love" me so much that they are making me go to some sort of surgeon to get anesthesia, and do it that way. The other part is that I got sent home with a lot of pain, and a whole cheek that felt like a balloon. I am getting them all taken out at the same time though. I hope you all enjoyed the first part of your week a lot more than I did!

ps. My family has been passing around the stomach bug this week also.

Gymnastics

After persuading me to go to her gymnastics camp last weekend, my sister and I went much to her enjoyment. And, to my surprise, I really had a blast! It was with much younger kids, and one other friend of mine, but the coaches were very good about letting "the big girls" do more challenging things. Sometimes I ended up doing a foward summer-sault instead of a backward one, though. The little kids are super cute too.

Surfing!!!!!!!!

Yesterday, me, my cousin, and my aunt and uncle went to Nauset beach to take surfing lessons. It was so much fun! Although one of my least favorite things is salt water, I managed to have a great time. I did go all the way to the shore twice standing up though!!!!!!!!!! I did countless nose dives, and it was hard to get back out with waves twice the size of me crashing towards me.

My cousin Julia is going to Paris tomorrow. :( :( :(
